Porcelain Veneers

Surgery: Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers can be a permanent solution to improve the appearance of front teeth if there are gaps, discolouration or chips. They are made in the dental laboratory from an impression of your teeth.

Teeth are prepared for veneers by roughening the surface so that they adhere better when put in place to produce a natural white smile.

How soon can I have this treatment?

We can secure priority appointments for our clients subject to the dental specialist’s availability. However it is best to request an appointment well in advance.

What are veneers and what are they used for?

Veneers are used to improve the appearance of chipped, discoloured or misshapen front teeth. They can be made to improve the appearance of gaps between teeth or uneven teeth sizes.

Which teeth could I have veneers for?

Veneers can be applied to the front teeth to improve your smile. It’s only recommended to veneer the teeth you show when you smile.

What types of veneers are available?

There are two types of veneers, composite and porcelain. The later being the more expensive. Porcelain veneers have super hard surfaces, are stain resistant and retain their shine. They are harder and more durable than composite and in general will not wear over time. Composite veneers are made in-chair by the dentist using a composite material similar to that used for fillings.

What preparation is needed for porcelain veneers?

The dentist prepares the teeth with the hand-piece to allow space for the veneers to be cemented to the front of the teeth. An impression is taken and sent to the laboratory to make the veneers to exacting standards.

How long does it take to get porcelain veneers made?

Usually about 7 days is required after having teeth prepared and the impressions sent to the laboratory. The preparation process can take several days dependent upon the condition and number of your teeth to be veneered.

Is everyone a candidate for veneers?

Veneers aren’t suitable for all patients. Sometimes crowns are recommended due to the bite or occlusion. The dentist can advise you further when you send photos and complete the online form by clicking here

How are veneers fixed to the teeth?

They are then cemented to your teeth by the dentist.

What are the common issues with composite veneers?

Composite veneers frequently finish down to a knife edge in places around the edges and these very thin areas may curl and separate after about three to five years leaving tiny areas of brown stain here and there. Usually these defects can be repaired.

What are the common issues with composite veneers?

Porcelain veneers are more brittle than composite and are more likely to fracture after taking a sharp blow from a hard object such as a coffee mug or chewing down on something unexpectedly hard in food. However with the introduction of the new porcelains that are 12 times stronger than the older porcelains breakage is now fairly rare.

How long do I have to stay in Thailand?

If you have no underlying conditions such as gum disease or other problems, 10 days is usually long enough to have your teeth prepared and the veneers produced and fitted. If you have other dental health issues that will affect the teeth to be veneered, it will have to be addressed first and may take additional time.

Why can’t I leave sooner?

The veneers are produced in a laboratory and time is required to produce them.

I chose Stunning Makeovers because I'd seen a piece on the TV about you and I liked what I saw on your web site.

The surgeon, with my face and neck lift, did a wonderful job. He was very professional. The nurses were very efficient and courteous. The other liaison-type staff were great and explained everything fully to me after surgery. I could not find fault with any of the staff. The service was fabulous and the facilities very nice.

I would return for more surgery without hesitation especially now that I know what to expect and I would gladly recommend Yanhee to anyone.

I am very satisfied with Stunning Makeovers service as we gave you a very short time to organize things for the two of us and it all came together smoothly. Paul couldn't have been more helpful no matter the time of day.
