FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How soon can I have this treatment?
We can secure priority appointments for our clients subject to the dental specialist’s availability. However it is best to request an appointment well in advance.
What is a dental implant?
An implant consists of two or three parts. One is a titanium part (called the implant) which is secured in the jawbone and sticks out through the gum. This implant acts like the root of your natural tooth. Another part attaches to the implant (called an abutment). The third part is a dental crown. The crown is made of porcelain and looks like a natural tooth. If there are several missing teeth then bridges of crowns are made to span each implant you have in your jawbone. This is known as a fixed dental implant system and is suitable for single or multiple missing teeth. The other option for full mouth rehabilitation is a removable overdenture. The overdenture is secured to titanium implants in the jaw. Either system can be a welcome alternative to a partial plate or acrylic full dentures.
Is everyone a candidate for dental implants?
The key requirements for dental implants are good bone density and bone volume. For patients that do not have enough bone, a graft may be possible using synthetic material.
Which missing teeth can I have an implant for?
Almost any tooth, subject to good bone volume and density. If you have 1 or 2 missing teeth side by side, then individual implants will be needed. If you have 3 or more missing teeth in the same gap, then usually the implant and bridge option is used. If you were replacing all of your teeth with implants then you wouldn’t have all individual implants as this is not only costly but will weaken the bone.
How long does it take to get implants?
It will depend on your case. If you have good bone density and volume you may be a candidate for implants during one trip of about 14 days. However, some patients may need to return after the implants are placed in 3 or more months to have the crowns fitted.
How much do implants cost?
The cost of implants depends on the location and number of gaps. For full mouth implants, the fixed or removable system can be considered. To get a free estimate for implants please click here
How can I get a dental opinion before travelling overseas?
To get a free dental opinion and estimate for treatment, an OPG x-ray is needed. Please send your x-ray to us or contact us about obtaining one
Can I have dental treatment and plastic surgery?
Some plastic surgery and dental treatment can be arranged during the same trip but it is not recommended to have dental treatment after facial surgery including eyelids surgery or vision correction.
Can I talk to a past patient?
Yes, many of our clients are very happy to talk to others that are planning dental treatment through Stunning Makeovers. Before we can put you in touch, please send your photos and complete the questionnaire by clicking here.
